Tool Setter with Integrated Air Cleaner Nozzle
Compact, Reliable & CNC-Ready
The Tool Setter with Air Cleaner Nozzle is a precision instrument designed for automatic tool length measurement and zero-point calibration in CNC machines. Equipped with a built-in air nozzle for chip and dust removal, it ensures accurate probe triggering and long-term reliability in demanding environments.
Key Features:
- 4-Wire NC Configuration:
Compatible with most CNC controllers, featuring two independent probe outputs (Input + and Probe) and corresponding GND connections. - Precision Contact Triggering:
When the tool touches the probe surface, the contact pair inside the device opens—immediately sending a signal to slow or stop the spindle, enabling automatic Z-axis calibration. - Integrated Air Blow Nozzle:
Actively removes chips, dust, and coolant from the probe surface, guaranteeing clean and accurate contact every cycle. - Durable & Sealed Construction:
Built for industrial use, with robust housing and internal spring mechanism to support long operational life. - Easy CNC Integration:
Can be connected to any free digital input of your CNC controller (Input*, Probe) with φ4 air inlet.
Application:
Ideal for CNC routers, milling machines, and engraving systems requiring automated and repeatable tool calibration. The air cleaner nozzle enhances performance in dusty or high-speed environments.
Wiring and Signals Description
The MY20-20-2 CNC Automatic Tool Setter is a precision NC (Normally Closed) probe designed for automatic tool length measurement and Z-axis zero setting on CNC milling machines. It offers dual signal output for both tool contact detection and mechanical overtravel protection, ensuring both precision and safety in CNC operations. Dual-Signal Wiring – 4-Wire Normally Closed Configuration. This tool setter is equipped with two independent signal pairs, both using NC-type contact switches:
Tool Setting Signal (Brown + Orange)
Purpose: Used for precise Z-axis zeroing during tool setup.
Working Principle:
- In normal (idle) state, the contacts are closed, and voltage is present at the output.
- When the tool touches the probe tip, the contact pair opens, cutting the signal.
- The CNC controller detects this voltage drop (0V) and immediately slows or stops the Z-axis movement.
- After tool retraction, the contact pair closes again, restoring the signal.
✅ This is the primary signal used for automatic tool length setting and surface detection.
Overtravel Protection Signal (Green + Blue)
Purpose: Acts as a secondary safety signal to detect excessive downward pressure or mechanical failure.
Working Principle:
- Also NC by default.
- In case the tool does not stop after contact (e.g. software delay, error), and continues pressing the probe:
- A separate contact pair inside the probe opens.
- This triggers the Overtravel Protection Signal, allowing the controller to take immediate emergency action (halt the machine, raise alarm).
- Prevents physical damage to both the tool and the probe assembly.
✅ This is a redundant safety mechanism, highly recommended in industrial and automatic CNC systems.

🔌 Connection to CNC Controller
Connect as follows:
- Tool Setting Signal → Any available INPUT pin on your controller (Brown = IN+, Orange = IN–)
- Overtravel Signal → Emergency input or secondary input (Green = IN+, Blue = IN–)
- No external power is required – the device functions as a passive contact switch.
Note: Signal polarity depends on controller logic. Some systems may require pull-up or pull-down resistor configuration.
