Description
CNC-Y-Axis Alu Profile 215×126 is a heavy-duty structural aluminium extrusion developed for rigid Y-axis assemblies in CNC routers, engraving machines and custom machine frames. Its 215 × 126 mm cross-section combines a large load-bearing section with integrated mounting geometry for linear guides, ball screws, rack-and-pinion drives and machine-bed support profiles.
Designed by VALLDER from practical CNC-machine building experience, the profile is intended to simplify the construction of a strong, serviceable axis while keeping several drive concepts open. The reinforced internal cavities help distribute machining loads through the section and can also be used for structural filling where additional damping and rigidity are required.
Key Profile Characteristics
The main technical data and three application views are grouped together below for a faster visual overview.

Designed for Higher-Load CNC Axes
The profile supports several common drive configurations. It can be used with SFU16xx, SFU20xx and SFU25xx ball screws, allowing the same structural concept to be adapted from compact CNC routers to larger machines where higher Y-axis rigidity is required.
- SFU16xx: suitable where a more compact ball-screw arrangement is preferred.
- SFU20xx: suitable for medium-size CNC axis layouts.
- SFU25xx: supported where a larger ball screw is required.
Profile Integration and Drive Options
The cross-section below shows how the profile can combine the linear-guide mounting area, ball-screw channel, rack position and support geometry for the machine bed in one structural element.
Cross-section reference:
- HGW25 linear guideways (HIWIN compatible standard)
- SFU25xx / SFU20xx / SFU16xx ballscrew (HIWIN compatible standard)
- Channel for collecting oil and lubricant leaking from the ball screw
- Rack mounting position for the rack-and-pinion gearbox
- Hole for tapping an M10 thread
- Support shoulder for mounting the Alu Profile 80×120
The profile is also intended to work with the Alu Profile 180×20 as a work-surface mounting element.
Sections Z1, Z2 and Z3 can be filled with structural fillers such as epoxy granite or specialized concrete mixtures to increase rigidity and damping.

Two Drive-System Configurations
The second drawing illustrates the two principal drive arrangements supported by the profile:
- Rack-and-pinion drive using the rack-and-pinion gearbox
- SFU25xx / SFU20xx / SFU16xx ballscrew (HIWIN compatible standard)

Example of a Complete CNC Router Project
To demonstrate how the profile can be used as part of a complete machine, this section presents a practical VALLDER CNC router concept together with downloadable design files. The example shows the structural relationship between the aluminium profiles, gantry supports, axis drives and work area without turning the page into a dense wall of drawings.
The downloadable project includes:
- full 3D assembly model
- reference CNC router structure
- positioning of key mechanical components

Simple Assembly Concept
The example router is designed to reduce the amount of precision machining required during fabrication. Most components are assembled mechanically, while the steel structure supporting the X-axis gantry is intended to be cut from steel plate with a fiber laser.
Slot-and-tab joints locate the steel parts before welding, reducing dependence on manual measuring. The parts fit into predefined slots and are welded from the opposite side, simplifying positioning and helping to control alignment during fabrication.

Fabrication note: The nominal 10 mm-wide rectangular slots have been enlarged using a 0.1 mm offset to ease assembly and accommodate minor variations in plate thickness.

Laser-cut steel elements locate through slots before welding, reducing the need for measuring tools during assembly.

Only the two illustrated aluminium plates require milling, concentrating the most demanding machining into two relatively small parts.
