Description
The S&A / TEYU CW-3000, CW-5000 and CW-5200 series provide closed-loop water circulation for CNC spindle cooling. The three models serve different thermal loads: CW-3000 is a thermolysis-type cooler that rejects heat through a radiator and fan, while CW-5000 and CW-5200 use active compressor refrigeration for controlled coolant temperature. This makes the range suitable for CNC routers, engraving machines and other equipment using water-cooled motorized spindles.
For reliable operation, select the model according to the spindle heat load, ambient temperature and required temperature stability rather than spindle power alone. All three models include an integrated circulation pump. For normal operation, use clean distilled, purified or deionized water; a compatible non-corrosive antifreeze coolant may be used when freeze protection is required.

How to Select the Correct Model
| Model | Cooling method | Best suited to | Important selection point |
|---|---|---|---|
| CW-3000 | Radiator + fan | Lower heat loads where coolant may run above ambient | 50W/°C heat-dissipation rating; no compressor refrigeration |
| CW-5000 | Active refrigeration | CNC spindle systems requiring controlled coolant temperature | Approx. 750W nominal cooling capacity and ±0.3°C stability |
| CW-5200 | Active refrigeration | Higher thermal loads and longer continuous operation | Up to 1430W cooling capacity and ±0.3°C stability |
General family data above is based on current manufacturer documentation; delivered variants and revisions can differ. Always check the model nameplate and supplied manual before commissioning.
Installation and Coolant Recommendations
- Integrated pump: CW-3000, CW-5000 and CW-5200 all include a built-in circulation pump, so a separate external water pump is not required for the normal cooling loop.
- Normal coolant: use clean distilled, purified or deionized water. Avoid tap water because minerals and impurities can contaminate or restrict the cooling circuit.
- Freeze protection: where freezing is possible, a compatible non-corrosive antifreeze coolant may be used according to TEYU guidance. For normal temperatures, distilled/purified water is preferred.
- Correct circulation: connect chiller outlet to the spindle coolant inlet and spindle outlet back to the chiller inlet.
- Never run dry: fill the reservoir and confirm circulation before extended operation; dry running can damage the pump.
- Ventilation: keep air inlet and outlet clear. Restricted airflow reduces heat rejection and may trigger high-temperature alarms.
- Water level: keep the level within the normal range indicated on the level gauge and inspect periodically for leaks.
Cooling Principle
The CW-3000 and CW-5000/CW-5200 use two different cooling principles. The diagrams below show the coolant path and heat-removal method for each system.

CW-3000 – Passive Heat Dissipation
The CW-3000 uses its integrated circulation pump to move coolant through the spindle and back through an air-cooled radiator. A fan transfers the absorbed heat from the radiator to the surrounding air. Because there is no refrigeration compressor, the unit dissipates heat relative to ambient temperature rather than actively chilling the coolant to a set temperature.

CW-5000 / CW-5200 – Active Refrigeration
The CW-5000 and CW-5200 circulate coolant through the spindle and then through an evaporator, where heat is transferred into the refrigerant circuit. The compressor, condenser and fan reject this heat to the ambient air, allowing the electronic controller to maintain a controlled coolant temperature with substantially greater cooling capability than the passive CW-3000 design.
Controls and Maintenance
The refrigerated CW-5000/CW-5200 units provide electronic temperature monitoring and alarm functions. The manufacturer documents constant-temperature and intelligent-control modes, as well as protection for abnormal flow and temperature conditions. Clean ventilation grilles and filter gauze regularly, keep the coolant clean and investigate any flow alarm before continuing operation.

Temperature Controller
Electronic temperature monitoring with configurable control modes on refrigerated models.

Water Level Indicator
Provides a quick visual check of reservoir level before and during operation.

Dust Filter
Removable side filter supports routine cleaning and unobstructed condenser airflow.
FAQ frequently asked questions
Do all CW-3000, CW-5000 and CW-5200 models have a built-in circulation pump?
Yes. All three models include an integrated circulation pump that moves coolant through the spindle cooling circuit. Under normal installation, a separate external water pump is not required. Pump flow and pressure differ by model.
Which coolant should I use: distilled water or a special coolant?
For normal operation, TEYU recommends clean distilled, purified or deionized water. A special compatible non-corrosive antifreeze coolant can also be used when freeze protection is required. In other words, both are supported depending on the environment, but distilled/purified water is the preferred normal coolant and antifreeze should be used only when necessary and according to manufacturer guidance.
Is the CW-3000 a refrigerated chiller?
No. CW-3000 is a thermolysis-type circulating cooler. It uses a radiator and fan to reject heat and does not contain a compressor refrigeration circuit.
How often should the coolant be replaced?
TEYU commonly recommends changing circulating water approximately every three months, with shorter intervals in dusty or contaminated working environments.
What does a flow alarm indicate?
It indicates insufficient or interrupted coolant flow. Check the water level, tubing for kinks or blockage, leaks and pump operation before resuming machine operation.
What temperature-control modes are available on CW-5000 and CW-5200?
Manufacturer documentation describes constant-temperature and intelligent-control modes. Use the supplied controller manual for parameter changes because controller revisions can differ.
How much ventilation space is required?
Do not obstruct the air inlet or exhaust. Current CW-5000/CW-5200 installation guidance calls for generous clearance around the ventilation openings; follow the manual supplied with the exact unit.
Can antifreeze be used?
Yes. When freezing conditions cannot be avoided, use a chiller-compatible, non-corrosive antifreeze formulation. TEYU guidance recommends glycol-based antifreeze mixed with purified/deionized water for cold conditions and returning to purified or distilled water when freezing protection is no longer needed.
Why can specifications differ between online documents?
TEYU has produced multiple model revisions and pump/refrigerant configurations. The exact model nameplate and documentation supplied with the delivered unit take precedence over generic family data.
