Description
SHAC SCR / SSR Ball Screws — Precision Motion for CNC and Automation
Eight carefully selected SHAC ball screw models with exact nut compatibility and clear Vallder SKU identification.
The SHAC SCR / SSR Ball Screw range converts rotary motion into smooth, accurate linear travel with low friction and high mechanical efficiency. Vallder has selected practical diameter-and-lead combinations for CNC routers, milling machines, laser and plasma systems, automated equipment and industrial positioning axes.
Choose the complete ball screw model—not diameter and lead alone. Each model below is assigned to one specific SHAC SFNU or SFA ball screw nut to simplify ordering and avoid compatibility errors.
Available Ball Screws and Compatible SHAC Nuts
The table connects every Vallder ball screw SKU with the corresponding SHAC nut model and nut SKU. All combinations offered here are right-hand configurations.

Why Choose a SHAC Ball Screw?
- High transmission efficiency:
Rolling-ball contact reduces friction; the SHAC catalogue specifies mechanical efficiency above 90% and substantially lower drive torque than conventional sliding screws. - Smooth and repeatable motion:
The Gothic-arch raceway geometry supports controlled ball contact and stable rotary-to-linear motion. - Hardened working surfaces:
The SHAC catalogue specifies HRC 58–62 surface hardness and finely finished raceways for wear resistance and dependable service life. - Practical size and lead selection:
Leads from 5 to 20 mm cover accurate feed axes as well as faster-travel CNC and automation applications. - Defined nut compatibility:
Each Vallder SKU is connected to an exact SFNU or SFA nut model, reducing selection errors and commissioning time.
Application:
Suitable for CNC routers, milling-machine axes, engraving systems, laser and plasma equipment, linear stages, pick-and-place systems, industrial automation and machine retrofits requiring efficient and repeatable linear positioning.
Accuracy, Direction and Available Length
The SHAC catalogue lists C5, C7 and C10 accuracy options for the selected SCR and SSR model codes, subject to the individual configuration and production specification. For general-grade ball screws, the catalogue gives permissible lead variation over any 300 mm of effective thread length of 0.052 mm for C7 and 0.21 mm for C10. Confirm the required accuracy class when ordering; the model size alone does not define accuracy or preload.
The combinations on this product page use right-hand ball screw nuts. Catalogue maximum standard lengths vary by model and do not represent the recommended usable length for every speed. Actual allowable length and speed depend on the support-bearing arrangement, screw orientation, rotational speed, load and critical-speed calculation.
Order the Ball Screw and Nut as a Matched Assembly
Recommended option:
Order the selected SHAC ball screw together with the compatible nut shown in the table and choose Vallder mounting before dispatch. Matching only the nominal diameter and lead cannot confirm raceway geometry, ball diameter, axial clearance or preload. A factory-compatible pair supplied and mounted together is the safest and simplest choice for smooth operation and predictable backlash.
When requesting a cut-to-length or machined ball screw, provide the required overall length, usable travel, fixed-side and supported-side bearing arrangement, coupling diameter and any end-machining drawing. Vallder can help verify the selected screw, nut and support-unit combination before production.
Installation and Maintenance Essentials
- Keep the nut supported:
Do not remove a ball screw nut from its transfer sleeve unless it is being transferred directly onto the correctly matched ball screw. - Protect the raceway:
Prevent metal chips, abrasive dust and impact damage during storage, machining and installation. - Align the complete axis:
Misalignment between the ball screw, support bearings and linear guides increases torque, noise, heat and premature wear. - Lubricate before operation:
Use a lubricant suitable for recirculating ball screws and define the relubrication interval according to speed, travel, load and contamination. - Check critical speed:
Long ball screws require suitable end support and speed verification to prevent vibration, whip and loss of positioning stability.
Standard End Machining Drawings by Ball Screw Diameter
The drawings below show the standard Vallder end-machining geometry for the three ball screw diameters offered on this page. Select the drawing by ball screw diameter: the same end-machining layout applies regardless of lead or whether the selected model belongs to the SCR or SSR family.
Important:
These drawings define the machining geometry at the fixed and supported ends. The required overall ball screw length and usable travel must be specified separately when ordering.
Ø16 mm Ball Screw End Machining
Applicable to SCR1605, SCR1610 and SSR1616.

Ø20 mm Ball Screw End Machining
Applicable to SCR2005, SSR2010 and SCR2020.

Ø25 mm Ball Screw End Machining
Applicable to SCR2505 and SCR2510.

FAQ frequently asked questions
How do I choose between the available SCR and SSR models?
Select the required diameter and lead, then use the exact model and compatible nut shown in the table. Do not substitute SCR and SSR codes solely because their nominal dimensions appear similar.
Is the ball screw nut included?
The ball screw and nut have separate Vallder SKUs. Order the compatible nut from the same table and select Vallder mounting when you want a ready-matched assembly.
Which lead should I choose?
A smaller lead provides more linear force and finer travel per motor revolution, while a larger lead provides faster linear movement for the same rotational speed. Final selection must also consider motor torque, load and required resolution.
Can I order a custom length and machined ends?
Yes, subject to the selected model and production limits. Provide the overall length, travel and end-machining dimensions or identify the required fixed and supported bearing units.
Can I install an existing nut from another manufacturer?
Compatibility cannot be guaranteed from diameter and lead alone. Raceway profile, ball diameter, clearance, preload and manufacturing tolerances must all match, so a verified SHAC pair is recommended.
Which accuracy class is supplied?
Accuracy is configuration-dependent. The SHAC catalogue lists C5, C7 and C10 options for these model families; confirm the required class and available specification before ordering.
